An independent designer of sophisticated, elegant and distinctive jewelry,
Diz creates her timeless pieces by hand using both fairmined and recycled
high karat gold and sterling silver.
At times she gleans inspiration from seemingly unremarkable objects - the
shadow cast by a fence or the underbelly of a fallen leaf. At others, she is
moved by patterns found in architecture, sculpture and nature. Her Washington
DC studio is strewn with found objects such as seed pods, shells, river pebbles,
insect husks and images of ancient jewelry. All of this informs her unique and
very wearable designs.
Diz derives great satisfaction from employing the traditional and labor intensive
techniques of lost wax casting and hand-forging metals which have served
artists for centuries.
